Shortly before Nelson Mandela’s death in 2013 he met his old comrade in London to receive copies of Zola’s books Freedom in our Lifetime, Archie Sibeko’s Roll of Honour, Growing up in a Xhosa Village and A Fighting Union. Like Mandela, Zola believed that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” And like Mandela he believed that that belief should be a call to action.
