Starting Maths programme aims to support teachers and support staff, through providing a structured curriculum that they can use to reinforce teaching and learning a basic maths curriculum, linked to the South African CAPS curriculum.
The programme begins with simple counting and understanding of number. It continues to teach understanding, fluency and application of the 4 main operations up to the to the end of grade 7.
At the same time as teaching the learners, it aims to also demonstrate an interactive, child centered approach to their teachers. This, alongside weekly intensive teacher training, provides a scaffold to develop our teachers into a professional work force, skilled to use evidence informed teaching practices.
